WEBINAR RECORDING: VOLUNTEERING, SKILLS DEVELOPMENT & EMPLOYABILITY: REVERSING THE NARRATIVE?

The RYVU Team is pleased to share the recording of the webinar ‘Volunteering, skills development and employability: reversing the narrative?’ which took place yesterday, 29 July 2021. Over 40 people joined an insightful discussion during which participants and speakers shared their views on volunteering, skills and employability from the perspectives of academics, practitioners and volunteers.

The aspects of inclusion, risks of exploitation, livelihoods and learning were discussed in relation to skills development and employability, particularly when it comes to youth volunteering experiences. We would like to thank all participants and speakers for the fantastic engagement during the session, which was a follow up to the previous discussions held during the UNESCO Chair on Lifelong Learning, Youth and Work, Gulu University Conference in April 2021.

The webinar was moderated by RYVU Principal Investigator Prof Matt Baillie Smith and had two experienced panellists:  Ms Anna Nabulya, Deputy Executive Director of Uganda Youth Development Link (UYDEL), and RYVU Team Member Dr Moses Okech. Their presentations were followed by inspiring reflections from Mr David Andrew Ochiengh, Programme Coordinator Livelihoods at VSO Uganda, and Ms Scovia Adrupio, Coordinator for the UNESCO Chair on Lifelong Learning, Youth and Work at Gulu University, Uganda.
